Sunshine - The first day at home

Prayers, wishes, blessings are with little Shivam and us. It seems like a long journey ahead, a painful one but one that is filled with hope and love.

Nikhil went to office to complete his meetings and stuff for the week. After giving Shivam his medicines, I looked into his big eyes and reassured him that we are going to have a great day. While I was feeding him breakfast, Manju Jiji called up from Delhi and reassured me that she and the family are always with us. Her words had a profound effect on me and it brought out what I was debating for the past 2 days. We were Shivam’s strength. We were to keep up the normalcy for Shivam as much as possible. Let him be his age. Bring up his self esteem. Help build his strength so that he can fight cancer as a warrior. I read stories to him and made him laugh in the morning. He slept for a bit in the afternoon. When he got up, he was in a lot of pain. We gave him the pain med and his Ma made some hot poha and potatoes for him. In the evening, after giving him a bath, I made a train from him and we both played with it. He wanted to read more about the different planes and kept asking me to repeat it. When Nikhil came home in the evening, he held him close to his heart. Meera and Shivam wanted to be together and it was difficult to separate them again today. Shivam had an early dinner with Nikhil and went upstairs to spend some quality time together. I spoke to Mausiji and as always I felt like Maa was around looking after us.

Thank you to all the folks who help me grow stronger each moment, each day as we go through this period. I need strength, not pity at this time.

I realize that I am fulfilling yet another mission of life – To be a woman of strength, a woman who will protect her family and one that will always believe in the almighty.

Some lovely wordings sent from Nikhil’s teachers (written by Swami Vivekanand)

He Gave Me Difficult Situations to Face

When I Asked God for Brain & Brawn
He Gave Me Puzzles in Life to Solve

When I Asked God for Happiness
He Showed Me Some Unhappy People

When I Asked God for Wealth
He Showed Me How to Work Hard

When I Asked God for Favors
He Showed Me Opportunities to Work Hard
