Be patient is an easy advice to give; very hard to practice

Seattle/Redmond, March 31st, 2008: Today seems to be an exact replica of another day. Days and nights seem to be blurry now. Today was a typical crappy day. He had blood drawn, platelets were extremely low, blood transfusion ordered and given and a cranky kid.

Shivam now starts screaming the moment we enter the Children's hospital area. He knows he will have ouchy and I don't blame the poor kid.

Evening, he threw up both his medicines. I called the hospital. They asked me to give him zofran (anti-nausea), wait 1/2 hour, give dexamethasone (chemotherapy), wait 1/2 hour and then give Bactrim (for pneumonia).

Today, I am at a loss of words. I don't know what to write. I am extremely irritated (again, I don't know why). I think I will give a break here. Tomorrow might be better.

I do understand your feeling. I appologize if you got hurt on me saying "to have patience"..

but, it came from my heart and so, it was not easy..but, i compeletely agree with you that it is hard to practice...

there is always a brighter side to a coin.. just wait for that.. tomorrow will definitely bring color to your life soon again...

take care,

Nikhil and Urmila - some days are up, some days are down. the up & down changes from moment to moment, too. it is a new rhythm for your life. the uncertainty, the unpredictability of everything is jarring and disturbing. it takes time to settle into a new routine. and even after things "settle down" (ha! as much as they can), things are still up & down, from day to day and moment to moment. it is hard, so hard. but you will get through it, through each up moment and each down moment. enough time will pass, and eventually a month will pass, then a quarter, then a year and so on. thinking of you, mette and zoe

Shivam will be in our prayers from now on. Our daughter Rhea goes to the same school as Shivam does and I believe they have played together at times. We pray god to give you guys the strength and much more that is needed. Shivam and your family will get through this ordeal and the days will be normal for all of you again. Best regards, Saranath.

Praying for Shivam's quick recovery. May you all have the strength to face the present circumstances. Things will turn for the better and then the best is not so far away!!!
